MONTHLY MINUTES FOR: 13 December 2022

The opening ceremony for a regular meeting was conducted in accordance with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ritual; the meeting opened at 1000 hours by Post Commander Charlie Spain.  Commander Spain declared todays meeting an open meeting with family members present.   Opening prayers were given by Comrade Rodgers.

Commander Spain made the following temporary appointment: Comrade Bruce Stevens to served as the ODD for todays meeting.

DRAPING OF THE CHARTER:  Commander Spain conducted a ceremony to drape our charter to honor our departed comrade Larry Purdy, who passed away this month.  Post members conducted a memorial at comrade Purdy’s home, with family members on December 12th.

A motion was made by comrade Rodgers to accept them into our post, seconded by comrade Brozowski, no discussion, motion approved.


READING OF MINUTES: The Minutes from the November 8, 2022 meeting have been posted on the Post website and distributed via email.  A motion to accept the minutes was made by comrade Aukshun, seconded by comrade Rodgers, no discussion, motion approved.

QUARTERMASTER’S REPORT: Due to this being declared an open meeting, no financial report was given except to note that the Chili Cook off was profitable for the post. No motion necessary for this report.

READING OF BILLS: A motion was made by Commander Spain to pay 500 pesos towards each active members Christmas luncheon, after todays meeting, seconded by comrade Brozowski, no discussion, motion approved.   A motion was made by comrade Brozowski to pay for 150 bags of candy and other Christmas gifts for the local children, totaling 3000 pesos, seconded by comrade Webber, no discussion, motion approved.

  • The results of the Chili cooking contest, Miss Chili Pepper contest and raffles are posted on our official Post 9892 web page.  Another successful fundraiser for our Post.  A special thanks to the hard work of Comrades Aukshun, Brozowski and other members that assisted in the planning of this event.

A motion was made by comrade Brozowski to accept all committee reports, seconded by

comrade Rodgers, no discussion. motion approved.


REMEMBER OUR NATIONAL HOME : A prayer was said by Comrade Rodgers, in remembrance of our National Home.

NEW BUSINESS: None

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

  • A motion was made by comrade Dzurissin to add an annual Christmas dinner Post contribution of 500 pesos for each active member that attends the luncheon to next years budget. Motion seconded by comrade Brozowski, some discussion, motion approved.
  • The next District 7 quarterly meeting is scheduled for February of next year, hosted by Post 12130 in Cebu. More information will be provided in the January minutes and  on our web page.
  • The VFW team placed second in the pool league competition this year. Comrade Dzurissin made a motion that the post purchase tee shirts for the team members, totaling 5,000 pesos, seconded by comrade Aukshun, no discussion, motion approved.

50/50 DRAWING: Total 800 Pesos.  Comrade Grider won 400 pesos and the post received 400 pesos.

The meeting closed at 1055 hours in accordance with the VFW ritual.  The next Col B.J. Smith VFW Post 9892 meeting will be January 10, 2023 @ 1000, officers call at 0945.  Location: Crown & Anchor Resto, # 475 National Highway, Barangay Pagdalagan Sur, Bauang, La Union.
